Life In Carrollton Ministries and the River Valley Suicide Prevention Coalition are working together to make our communities suicide safer by sponsoring a suicide intervention workshop in Carrollton, Kentucky. The training consists of the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Program created by LivingWorks Educational Training Corporation.
This training is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, November 11-12, 2016 at The Pentecostals of Carrollton Church. The church is located in the Park Lane Shopping Center on Highland Avenue. The hours of the ASIST training will be from 8:30am – 4:30pm each day. Participants must attend the full training to achieve completion. The registration fee is $40, and snacks and lunch are provided both days.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is for everyone 16 or older—regardless of prior experience—who wants to be able to provide suicide first aid. Shown by major studies to significantly reduce suicidality, the ASIST model teaches effective intervention skills while helping to build suicide prevention networks in the community.

Virtually anyone age 16 or older, regardless of prior experience or training, can become an ASIST-trained caregiver. Developed in 1983 and regularly updated to reflect improvements in knowledge and practice, ASIST is the world’s leading suicide intervention workshop. During the two-day interactive session, participants learn to intervene and help prevent the immediate risk of suicide.
