LIFE IN CARROLLTON offers many classes and group meetings to support change in your life. Whatever change you are interested in, we will help you get your LIFE IN FOCUS !!!
CLASSES AND PROGRAMS OFFERED BY LIFE IN CARROLLTON MINISTRIES
LIFE BEYOND ABUSE – a faith-based substance abuse education program. Life Beyond Abuse is a 12-week series of lessons ( our current lesson plans will accommodate up to 50 total hours / weeks of attendance of substance abuse education attendance, if required) in a group environment utilizing cognitive behavior theory. Classes are held for 1-hr each Tuesday evening at 6pm. Each class is interactive and covers a 3-element structure . Classes begin with statistics and data, health effects, and other general information on an abuse-related drug/substance. The next element allows the participant to learn and explore a life-skill lesson relevant to the effects of the drug, providing insight on living an abuse-free lifestyle, and concludes with the instructor’s personal account from experience with the drug/substance and an historical example. Life In Carrollton offers both, a juvenile and an adult, Life Beyond Abuse class. Call (502) 732-0709 for an assessment and intake interview.
LIFE BEYOND ANGER – a faith-based anger/stress management education program. Life Beyond Anger is an 8-12 week program in a group or one-to-one setting. Each class meets for 1-hour each week. Classes are scheduled as needed. The program covers all aspects of anger and applies cognitive behavior theory methods to help the participant realize unhealthy coping mechanisms, then introduces positive techniques to manage stress and anger. Life Beyond Anger is also offered to accommodate mandated participants requiring secular education/instruction classes not faith-based. LIFE FOR TEENS – a faith-based life-skills education program. Life For Teens is a 12-week series exploring the issues faced by at-risk youth. Classes are interactive, introduce biblical principles, and includes life-skills, character development, and accountability - blended with substance abuse, anger, family issues, current teen trends, pre-marital sex, computer/cell phone issues, suicide, depression, and many other teen related topics. Classes meet each week for 2-hours. Parent or guardian must accompany teen for interview. Call (502) 732-0709 to schedule an intake interview.
LIFE FOR PARENTS – a faith-based program focusing on parenting issues related to children in the middle – high school age range. Life For Parents challenges the participants to inventory parenting skills, apply biblical principles, increase responsibility and accountability, and foster closer relationships in the family. Participants learn to create a safe environment in the home.
CHANGE FOR LIFE – a faith-based change management program for adults. Change For Life addresses life-skills and cognitive proficiencies necessary to implement and sustain positive changes in the participant’s lifestyle. Subjects covered include preparing for change, separation, loss of a loved one, grief, commitment, growing, temptation, and many other topics relevant to change. Life For Change is primarily focused on participants without drug and alcohol related issues.
FINANCES FOR LIFE – a financial management course for teen through adult participants. Life In Carrollton uses the FDIC developed Money Smart financial management course. For details and registration call (502) 732-0709.
MARRIAGE FOR LIFE – a marriage enrichment course designed to bring couples closer together and build stronger relationships. This is a weekend event planned and presented by trained counselors in Christian marriage therapy. Classes are scheduled on an as needed basis and a sufficient number of couples have pre-registered. WORK FOR LIFE – an employment preparedness course designed to prepare the participant for the employment process. Work For Life classes include resume building, completing an application, and interviewing skills, are coupled with communication skills and expected levels of responsibility and accountability to the employer. At the completion of the course the participant will have a completed resume and essential information for completing an employment application. Life In Carrollton is currently in negotiation with area employers to consider our course attendees for employment positions. Classes are scheduled on an as needed basis. LIFE FOR WOMEN – a Bible-based course explaining God’s purpose for the female participant’s life. Life For Women teaches the biblical plan of salvation, God’s desire and expectations in our lifestyle, and encourages abstinence from the abuse of drugs, alcohol, and from sex outside of marriage. The course successfully prepares the woman to understand God’s will and move forward in marriage and motherhood.
LIFE FOR MEN – a Bible-based course explaining God’s purpose for the male participant’s life. Life For Men teaches the biblical plan of salvation, God’s desire and expectations in our lifestyle, and encourages abstinence from the abuse of drugs, alcohol, and from sex outside of marriage. This course successfully prepares the man to understand God’s will and move forward in marriage and fatherhood.
LIFE FOR PARENTS SUPPORT GROUP – a weekly support group facilitated by parents, for parents. Life For Parents Support Group is open to all parents with concerns surrounding substance abuse, in the home or in the community. T his support group is ready for implementation.
